Vermont favorite Michael Arnowitt returns to Montpelier to give a special concert showcasing the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub’s new Steinway grand piano. Concert highlights include Chopin’s dramatic and lyrical Scherzo no. 2 in B-flat minor, Ravel’s sparkling and evocative “Jeux d’eau” (The Fountain), and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody no. 6, an exciting ride energized by the folk rhythms of the composer’s native Hungary. The program also includes great pieces by Debussy, Scarlatti, the outstanding Black American composer George Walker, and Michael Arnowitt’s own creation “The Stream” based on music of J.S. Bach.
