In the utterly contemporary drama Sex with Strangers, two writers accidentally converge on a cozy Michigan cabin in a snow storm. Olivia, a professor and author in her late-30s, is working on her second novel, after her first one had only minimal success. Ethan is an internet celebrity at 29 whose non-fiction blog (called Sex With Strangers) has made him a hot commodity. These two very different writers soon discover each has what the other wants: she has huge artistic talent that he envies and aspires to; he has millions of readers, and the NY Times Best Seller List cachet that she has yet to achieve.

Written by Laura Easton, (House Of Cards staff writer), Sex With Strangers has been one of the most produced plays in regional theaters for several seasons. High-voltage, funny and timely, the play explores whether technology is bringing us closer together, or making us virtual strangers. It explores the limits of online privacy and how the number of clicks can translate into stardom. The New Yorker calls it “a thoughtful comedy about privacy and publicity. Eason offers resonant observations about how technology both eases and complicates relationships.”

Sex with Strangers will be performed at the Montpelier Performing Arts Hub (35 College St.) on Nov. 11-14 at 7pm and Sunday, Nov. 15th at 2pm. It stars Kianna Bromley and Louis Bronson, and is directed by Joanne Greenberg.
